Charles Simmonshas been the treasurer of the DeKalb Lawyer's Association (D.L.A.) since 2015. He currently practices in the City of Atlanta as a public defender. At the City of Atlanta's Public Defender's Office he primarily handles D.U.I. defense cases along with misdemeanor traffic and criminal cases. Prior to joining the Public Defender's Office in 2015, he spent a time at Williams Teusink LLC, the Davis Bozeman Law Firm, and the Knox County Public Defender's Office.
Attorney Simmons is originally from Murfreesboro, Tennessee but transitioned to Atlanta, GA to attend Morehouse College. After graduating with a B.S. degree in Mathematics from Morehouse in 2011, Charles pursued law school and attended the University Of Tennessee College Of Law. Upon completion of law school in 2014, he went on to take and pass the Georgia Bar.
As the treasurer of the DeKalb Lawyer's Association, Attorney Simmons takes great pride in increasing the association's membership and having an active membership body where the members truly benefit from the services of the D.L.A. He has hopes that the association continues be a source of education and mentorship for young, upcoming attorneys, as it has been for him. He encourages any prospective member to attend any one of the monthly meetings and hear from the phenomenal speakers. To any prospective member Attorney Simmons states, “The DLA is a wonderful organization for networking, growing as a lawyer, and having a chance to affect those in DeKalb County. Membership in the DLA is not simply a resume/paper membership; everyone can contribute to and benefit from the organization.”
