Robert Burroughs has more than 30 years of experience in real estate matters. His practice includes commercial and residential transactions, representing clients in all types of real estate-related matters, including commercial and residential loan closing and contract preparation and review. He represents federally insured banks and savings & loan associations, mortgage brokers, individual property owners, purchasers and sellers.
“My specialty in real estate law began soon after I graduated from law school,” Robert says, “and that’s been my focus ever since. I’ve personally closed more than 500 transactions each year for the last 30 years.”
In addition to his traditional real estate practice, Robert’s areas of knowledge include foreclosure and bankruptcy matters, preparation of wills and trust documents, and administration of decedent estates. He also has extensive experience in the general representation of closely held corporations and not-for-profit organizations, including work with churches and other religious institutions.
Extremely active in the Atlanta/DeKalb community, Robert has served on the board of Grady Hospital as well as the DeKalb County Planning Commission and the DeKalb County Development Advisory Board. He currently serves as a member of the DeKalb County Board of Tax Assessors. He is also a member of 100 Black Men of America, Inc. and an active member of Greater Travelers Rest Baptist Church located in Decatur, Georgia. In addition, Robert serves on the executive committee of the Real Property Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia.
Robert is married to LaVerne Davis Burroughs. His son James works with him in his real estate practice, and his daughter Christina is a poet and college professor. Robert is an avid hiker and enjoys getting away on his vintage motorcycle. His personal goals are to hike the Appalachian Trail and bike across the US.
